Don't forget that our membership secretary Ali will be renewing memberships at the final film.
Membership costs £28 for the season. There is also a young person's membership for filmgoers between the ages of 18 and 26 which costs £10, and is subject to approval.
reel people membership is for anyone over 18 years of age. 15 - 17 year olds are eligible to apply for membership, but applications must be supported by an existing reel people member. reel people committee approval is required due to film rating certification.
SEASONS OLD & NEW ...
After 15 seasons screening at Kilmersdon Village Hall reel people Film Society is moving for its new season to The Prospect Theatre, Writhlington School, BA3 3NQ.
This decision was discussed in depth by the committee and shared with the membership in March this year.
The key reasons that led to the decision to move are:
- Too few committee members to continue with the demands of setting-up for screenings at Kilmersdon Village Hall
- The loss (due to house move) of reel people Film Society's only projectionist
- The limited time to find and train two replacement projectionists
Kilmersdon Village Hall is the birth place of reel people Film Society. It has enabled us to grow and develop from strength to strength becoming one of the most innovative film societies, with success and popularity continuing season after season!
It may not be 'goodbye' forever to Kimersdon Village Hall, as the reel people committee agreed that the move to the Prospect Theatre is for the year ahead in the first instance - the decision will be reviewed by the committee in February 2014 and the outcome shared at the AGM in March 2014.
Six of the twelve films have been chosen, the full programme will be available by August 2013.
Membership is available for renewal by current members from NOW until 31 May 2013.
From 01 June 2013 remaining memberships will be available.
So we wish you a wonderful break through the Spring and Summer, and look forward with much excitement to welcoming all our members and guests to the Prospect Theatre for the first screening of our 16th season on Friday 13 September.
